Vettel comes up on a hard-fought duel for twelfth between Sutil and Perez but manages to lap the duo safely on the front straight. Sutil, Perez and Alguersuari battle hard for P13. Alguersuari dives into the pits to make his fourth stop of the day. Rosberg gets past Button for P5 on the back straight. Kovalainen makes a pit stop. Schumacher and Massa both get past Alguersuari. Massa then gets past Schumacher, forcing him wide and allowing Alguersuari to get his nose alongside. Schumacher fights him off. The Webber-Alonso battle has allowed Vettel to increase his gap over P2 to over eight seconds. Massa overtakes Schumacher for P12 but Schumacher comes back on him to retake the position. Alonso is trying hard to come back on Webber for second but doesn't manage to pull it off in two attempts this lap. Webber now less than a second behind Alonso. Webber uses DRS to get past Alonso braking into Turn 12. Alonso fights back through Turns 13 and 14 but is held off by Webber. Hamilton disposes of Button for P4 using DRS on the back straight. Hamilton has closed right up on Button, who has made one less stop than him. Race leader Vettel makes his fourth stop of the race for a set of hard tyres. Replays show a problem on the right-rear wheel during his most recent pit stop. Webber sets fastest lap and he's closing in fast on Alonso. Alonso makes his fourth stop of the day for a new set of soft tyres. Rosberg uses DRS to get by Massa on the back straight. Massa drops out of eight place to pit and rejoins in P12. Hamilton and Heidfeld have also come into the pits. Webber makes his fourth stop of the day. di Resta has come to a stop on the side of the track. Petrov gives up sixth place to pit. Rosberg comes back into the pits for a second set of soft tyres. Buemi easily disposes of Schumacher for P10. Rosberg's team tells him to adjust his front wing. Vettel, Rosberg and Button are not expected to stop again while Alonso, Webber and Hamilton are. Maldonado has to serve a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pits on his previous stop. Maldonado makes his third stop of the day. Hamilton is over forty seconds behind Vettel after his disastrous pit stop and looks to have no shot of catching the leaders. Vettel's lead over Alonso after his stop is now over seven seconds. Race leader Vettel ducks into the pits and takes on a set of hard tyres. Barrichello and Sutil make their third stop of the day. Barrichello is trying to hold off Heidfeld for ninth place. Massa manages to get by Schumacher. Button and Alguersuari make their pit stops and come out in seventh and fourteenth respectively. Alonso sets fastest lap again. Liuzzi makes a pit stop and drops to last in the running order to P23. Massa has now closed up behind Schumacher and challenging for P12. Alonso pits while running second to take on a set of hard tyres. He comes out two seconds ahead of Webber and still in second. Heidfeld comes into the pits while Webber sets fastest lap. Webber pits for a set of hard tyres and comes out in third place. Massa gets by Kamui Kobayashi for thirteenth. Hamilton sets fastest lap. Button gets by Massa for sixth. A disastrous stop for Hamilton running over fifteen seconds. Petrov also makes a stop and takes on a set of softs. Massa also made a stop and came out in sixth. Rosberg makes his third stop of the day to take on a set of softs and comes out in P11. Rosberg's team told him there was a lot of blistering on the soft tyres that he ran his first stint with, so he should take care of his next set of softs to make them last to the finish. He is currently on his second set of hards. Petrov and Heidfeld are also on the same tyre sequence as Rosberg. Heidfeld's team tells him to conserve his tyres if he can't get by Rosberg. Petrov, Massa and Button now in a close battle for fifth. Schumacher makes his third stop of the day. Button is looking for a way past Massa for sixth place. Vettel's gap over Webber close to nine seconds. Schumacher currently running tenth. On replay, we see a bit of a hang-up while changing his left-rear tyre during his most recent pit stop. Alonso uses DRS effectively to get past Webber on the back straight to take over P2. Webber's team tells him to increase his gap over Alonso. Soon after, Alonso's team tells him that Webber has been told to push. Button makes his second stop of the race and takes on soft tyres. He rejoins in seventh in front of Rosberg. Vettel sets fastest lap. Vettel comes into the pits for a new set of softs and retains the lead after the stop. Rosberg gets by di Resta for eleventh place. Heidfeld also passes him for twelfth. Barrichello drops out of sixth to pit. Alonso sets fastest lap. Massa suffers a huge lock-up under braking into Turn 12 and Button gets by for fourth. Massa comes into the pits immediately for a new set of tyres to replace the flat-spotted ones. He rejoins in ninth. Rosberg comes into the pits, as does Heidfeld and they come out in P13 and P14. Rosberg takes on a set of hard tyres again while Heidfeld takes on softs. Massa finally manages to get past Rosberg and Button does the same. Webber gives up second position to make his second stop and takes on softs. Hamilton comes into the pits for a set of softs and rejoins in P10. Petrov comes into the pits again. Massa manages to get past Rosberg momentarily but Rosberg holds him off through the second part of the esses and retains P5 coming to complete the lap. Sutil now has Barrichello's Williams in his sights for P12. As they go into Turn 12 again, Massa is able to draw right alongside Rosberg this time but is still unable to complete the pass on the Mercedes driver. Vettel's lead over teammate Webber is now around three seconds. Massa tries to use DRS and get a run on Rosberg but is unsuccessful. Schumacher tries to hold off di Resta going into Turn 12 and makes contact sending pieces of debris flying. Button's team tells him that many of the front-runners might be on a four-stop strategy. Hamilton manages to get past Rosberg in Turn 12 using DRS, to take over fourth place. Schumacher makes his second stop of the race. Button comes into the pits and takes on a new set of soft tyres giving the lead back to Vettel. The Briton rejoins in seventh. Barrichello makes a clean pass on Schumacher for P13 and moves up to P12 as Alguersuari comes in for a pit stop. Kobayashi gives up P5 to pit. A melee in the third sector esses as Petrov blocks Heidfeld and makes contact with his teammate. Both are able to continue on for now. Race leader Vettel comes into the pits for a set of soft tyres and rejoins in second place. Massa sets fastest lap. Webber soon bests it. Webber also comes into the pits for a set of softs. Replays show that Massa's pit exit could possibly be deemed unsafe by the stewards. Alonso comes into the pits and puts on a new set of soft tyres. Petrov comes into the pits. Massa and Hamilton pit at the same time also. It's a close call between them as Lewis gets the edge leaving pit lane and they rejoin in P12 and P13 respectively. Button gets a run on Hamilton coming out of the last turn and passes him going into Turn 1. Alonso gets a run outside Rosberg in the Turn 7 section but has to slot back in line behind the Mercedes. Alonso uses DRS and passes Rosberg on the back straight, very similar to Webber's pass on Rosberg a couple of laps ago. Hamilton is still trying hard to get past Button while Alonso is sizing up Rosberg for a pass. Hamilton finally gets past Button in the esses after Turn 12. Even though he gets loose coming onto the front straight, he manages to hold off his teammate. Glock has retired from the race without starting the race, due to pre-race gearbox issues. Webber puts DRS to good use and passes Rosberg for second. Schumacher has now rejoined the race in P22. Vettel's lead over Rosberg is now over two seconds. DRS is now enabled. Petrov out-brakes Schumacher going into Turn 12 and gets alongside but the German turns in too early causing a collision. Schumacher has come into the pits with damage. Vettel comes by to complete the first lap and is already a second clear of Rosberg. Perez comes in to the pits to replace a damaged front wing. Kobayashi is now up to eighteenth place after starting last. Barrichello gets past Heidfelt for P10. Hamilton tries hard to get past Button without success. This is the fourth round of the season and Sebastian Vettel comes in with a staunch twenty-one point lead over Lewis Hamilton. And the talented young German looks to continue his early season form into this weekend as he won the pole position yesterday. Starting next to him will be his teammate Mark Webber. Behind them, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton make up the second row. Hamilton is a maestro at starts so look for him to capitalize on any mistake made by the Red Bulls at the start. The track here at Istanbul Park is a challenging one, testing every facet of the car and driver with a heady mix of slow and fast corners intertwined in a plethora of elevation changes and bumps. And the long flowing corners in the second part of the circuit allows for some great slip-streaming battles, so it should be a great race. Conditions are expected to stay sunny with an occasional overcast sky but no chance of rain. Engines have now been fired. Drivers set off on the warm-up lap.
